UPPER MEADOWS FARM and the JERSEY SEAFOOD LINK TM

2008
On a per order basis, monthly, from May through October,we offer Jersey Seafood directly from the Viking Village dock in Point Pleasant, NJ and Surf'N'Turf Farm, for pick up at our on-farm market on specified Fridays. We feature sea scallops from Capt. Jim Gutowski, clams from Bill Williams down at Little Egg harbor, and the catch of the day fresh from the ocean. To date we have enjoyed yellow fin tuna, big eye tuna, bonito, mako shark, swordfish, jumbo bluefish, and fluke. I am still getting rave reviews on the quality of the fish, scallops and clams!

SCHEDULE:

Together with Bill and Jim I'm working to bring you the most amazing fresh seafood for 2008. I plan on making one run at the end of each month. July will have two, one before the Fourth and one the last week. If there is enough interest I will consider adding more days.  New participants, your share will be reserved with your deposit.


I had consistently great! responses across the board from everyone who participated. The shares that we are offering[a shellfish only share ($55) and a fin fish only share ($35) in addition to our premium clams, scallops, and fin fish share($75)] have been very well received. Brief History & Future Plans

In 2002 we began the Jersey Seafood Link. This was brought about by a desire on Len's part to work towards establishing an animal protein CSA. The premise being that once a month a person would be able to purchase a scheduled animal protein For example; [January-Beef, February-duck, March-Seafood], [April-lamb, May-chicken, June-seafood], [July-Pork, August-chicken, September-seafood], [October-Beef, November-Turkey, December-Seafood] This just being an example, the objective as you may see by the brackets is to offer a different animal protein each month but to vary the type so that each quarter we would have a poultry, seafood, and red meat option. With the information we have gathered in the past 5 years it looks like there is building interest and the project is still in the works. It will be run as a buyers club with members needing to reserve their member slot with a modest deposit and an invitation monthly to purchase that offering. This will be in addition to the products we have regularly on farm.
