Common Ground •
WE have a number of animal lovers, including myself, in our
CSA. Several are meaningfully engaged in animal rescue. Below
is a brief introduction to Jennifer along with a request for
support. WE welcome articles such as this that may be of common
interest. Make sure you visit our Member Profile page and
meet Gregg who is very engaged in cat rescue.
Jennifer Ward Souder decided that running to raise awareness
and support for Animal Haven would keep her motivated all
the way across the finish line of the inaugural NYC Half-Marathon
on August 27th. Jennifer, who works at the Queens Botanical
Garden in Flushing and knows how lucky that community is to
have a resource like Animal Haven said, “I’ve
always been inspired by the work that Animal Haven does to
help animals in need around NYC. My husband James and I have
three rescues (two cats, Corinna and Brinkley and one dog,
Parker) in our Hell’s Kitchen home. I’m always
looking for ways to support no-kill organizations like Animal
Haven that work tirelessly to care for the endless number
of animals that need help in our City.” She’s
been sweating her way through some great (hot!) training runs
during her travels out west in July and regularly up and down
the beautiful Hudson River. She hopes her training has her
ready to make Animal Haven proud!
Jennifer’s friends and families are supporting Animal
Haven through sponsoring Jennifer’s Half-Marathon and
you can too! You can donate on-line or by check. If sending
a check, please make it out to Animal Haven, Inc. and write
"Jennifer Ward Souder's 1⁄2 marathon" in the
memo. If you donate online, go to www.Animalhavenshelter.org
, then, "how to help/donate", "Building Fund
for the Future" - when you go to checkout, please write
"Jennifer Ward Souder's 1⁄2 marathon" in the
memorial, sponsorship, etc. comment box.Photo Caption: The
Souder’s dog, Parker, is more likely to be found relaxing
on the couch than training with Jennifer but Parker is happy
that Jennifer is running to support other animals in need
of rescue like she once was.
