Animal Tracks Yellow Swallowtail butterfly on front yard lilacs

It's Alive!!
Last year we were trying to determine what caterpillar was enjoying the Parsley. We figured that they were Swallowtail butterflies. I can't prove that we had any significant impact but the yellow Swallowtails are here and quite a few! I am always really happy to get a good picture and sometimes I get lucky.Flowers, butterflies, other insects, and non moving things are my best subjects.

They are easier to get closer to than birds and other animals and so the photos come out a bit better. I am not a photo pro!

And OH THE BIRDS! The spring warblers are here and singing up a storm. We were serenaded by Baltimore orioles and Redstarts and spring warblers and thrushes to name a few while we planted the potatoes. Our favorite catbird has returned. The most amazing mimic I have heard. Even better than many mocking birds.

The Indigo Bunting was a real treat and I just managed to get an image as we passed back in from the potato field. The squirrels are going nuts...HaHa but really they are abundant this year. We haven't seen many of the larger wild animals other than turkeys but there are deer prints a-plenty. The raccoons have been moving in the woods and we see their prints as well. Opossums and skunks and things that go bump in the night are all out and about as per the tracking records in the soft earth.

Today, I saw a pair of eagles headed south along the river but the photo images were just a blur. I'll keep trying.
